Chairman’s Update - 4 November 2023

So this year we had a year free from Covid - thank goodness as Covid presented issues, inconveniences and stresses we did not need.

We all did as much as we could, we isolated and compromised in many ways to help keep our Maryvale producing.

Whilst other businesses struggled with infection, we kept the ‘doors open’.

And yet only a few months later, we began to see the doors close around the Mill at M5, Converting, CKM, half of Recovery and then M2.

The DIP plant and others felt it too.  It has been very sad to see.

As quickly as we could, your Friendly Society team rallied to consider particularly the anxiety and mental health issues the downsizing might present.

We understood some members may need a helping hand.  And some still do.

We’ve seen some of our team unfortunately leave the Mill and the Board, but I thank them for their terrific contribution and I welcome the new faces!

I can truly say your Board of Directors and Administrative Staff have continued to provide superb support and benefits in 2023.

I continue to be so proud of our timely response, our sense of welfare and our ability to assist.
