Sick & Accident Benefit

 

Purpose:

To provide funds to the Member to assist with the incidental costs of their recuperation and fitness recovery efforts during an illness or injury to the Member.

Eligibility:

In the case of an injury or illness affecting the;

    • Member - must be absent from work for a minimum of 70hrs. continuously.
    • Members on unlimited sick leave or receiving full pay will be required to lodge a claim form stating they require the benefit and giving reasons for their hardship.

Benefit:

Stage 1 - (First 2 weeks)

Exemption period - no entitlement to payment.

Stage 2 - (Next 12 weeks)

$40 per week (must be off work continuously)

Will be reviewed in light of other benefits being received. E.g. housecleaning/lawnmowing.

Stage 3 - (Benefit may be extended for a further 12 weeks)

$40 per week (must be off work continuously)

Limits:

At the discretion of the Board.

Payment:

Members will be paid 2 weeks in arrears (to allow for payroll verification)

    • Maryvale - direct payment into Members pay
    • Staff / Others - direct to bank account.

Notes:

Maryvale Payroll - advises the Society of absent members.

Staff and Other Members - should advise the Society by email or claim form.

Payment will cease when the Member returns to work (including part-time and light duties).
